The File Has Been Re-Activated

Checking the Celery Pond file at MDEQ it showed the file “re-activated.” This means that the three developers are actively pursuing the marina development and will be seeking permit approval from MDEQ in the months ahead.

According to Kameron Jordan, District Supervisor at the MDEQ for Land and Water Management Division, new plans and a request to re-activate was received on Wednesday, 3/7/02. A decision due date is set for 8/4/07.

With the file “open,” letters can now be addressed to express your position. They should include the file number # 05-80-0061-P, re: Celery Pond in South Haven, Van Buren County. Letters can be sent to MDEQ, for the file c/o Kameron Jordon, Land & Water Management Quality, 7953 Adobe Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49009-5026. While it is generally not so common for a second hearing to be given, we can request it. Before doing so, we will
look at the new plans which have been submitted.

To all concerned, please try to attend the next CPA meeting on Tuesday, March 13th at 4:30pm at the SH Public Library.

We will be discussing the legal procedures that the CPA will be taking, along with planning the next fundraiser. It will be very important to rally support now for the next fundraiser and let others in the public know about the re-opening or re-activating of the Celery Pond issue.
