Signing A Petition to Save Celery Pond: Online
A grass-roots group in Emerald Isle was able to save the Bogue Inlet Pier from being taken by developers. The Pier was purchased by the town of Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners with most of the petition signers from North Carolina, also Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado, most of whom signed on-line.
What a great idea! As of today, October 1, 2006, the CPA is putting their petition on-line for you to sign, if you haven’t already. After reading the petition, please email us your name and address to our celery pond email box or drop the details saying you agree with the petition as stated on-line to our P.O. Box 693, South Haven, MI 49090.
“I agree that the wetland of Celery Pond should not be developed into a marina with a channel cut made from Black River to reach it. The Celery Pond should remain a wetland, with the possible chance to make it into a nature sanctuary with educational facilities to highlight its unqiue position as the last wetland on Black River’s 287-mile watershed, as it outflows into Lake Michigan from South Haven’s two piers.”
